Protesters in Osun State on Wednesday defied a 24-hour curfew imposed by the governor, Mr. Adegboyega Oyetola.
The curfew was announced in a statement on Tuesday night stating that it will commence today.
However, youths defied the directives in some major junctions visited by our correspondent in Osogbo, Agunbelewo, and Okini.
At Osogbo, the popular Ola-Iya junction, protesters converged and barricaded the highway. Protesters also barricaded the Ogo-Oluwa area, some policemen who appeared at the scene were chased off.
Subsequently, youths barricaded the Ifon/Ogbomosho road. They made bonfires on the street.
Soldiers addressed protesters in front of the APC secretariat, Ogo-Oluwa, Ola-Iya, and other places that youths gathered to call for calm.
They implored the youths to remain calm.
His words: “Future is ours, we the youths are the leaders of tomorrow, it is good that we protest but we must not allow thugs to infiltrate our agitation by destroying properties and others.”
