In Delta, police apprehend three suspected cultists on a vengeance mission and recover weapons.
Delta State Police Command officers apprehended three suspected cultists in the state’s Warri area.
The suspects were found with one locally made gun and four rounds of live cartridges, according to DSP Bright Edafe, the command’s spokesperson.
According to the PPRO, one of the suspects, Chukwuma Owoh, admitted that they were on a vengeance mission against some Aiye confraternity cult members who had attacked his sister.
“On 05/08/2022 at about 1345HRS, police operatives attached to Quick response squad (QRS) intercepted a tricycle with three occupants during a stop and search duty along Pessu corner in Warri, and upon search of the occupants, one locally made cut-to-size gun and four live Cartridges were recovered from them,” the statement read.
“The three suspects, Chukwuma Owoh’m’, aged 26 years, Ediri Ogendengbe’m’, aged 32 years, and Alfred Kess’m’, aged 38 years, were arrested immediately by the policemen.”
“Chukwuma Owoh, one of the suspects, confessed that he bought the gun from one Haruna of Hausa market Warri, and that he was on his way to Pessu in search of some Aiye confraternity cult members who had attacked his younger sister.” The suspects have been apprehended, and the investigation is still ongoing.”
Meanwhile, the state’s Commissioner of Police, CP Ari Muhammed Ali, has urged officers and men of the Command to maintain the pace in the state’s fight against crime and criminality.
He also reminded them to be polite and civil to members of the public while on duty, as public incivility will not be tolerated under his watch.
