Adeleke appeals the Osun tribunal’s decision after rejecting it
Senator Ademola Adeleke, the governor of Osun, has disagreed with the tribunal decision that led to his dismissal on Friday morning
According to The Nation, Adeleke was removed as governor of Osun by the Justice Tertse Kume-presiding Election Petition Tribunal due to instances of over voting
In a statement released by Mallam Olawale Rasheed, Adeleke’s spokeswoman, called the tribunal’s decision “a miscarriage of justice” and vowed to appeal it.
From his rural home in Ede, where he was responding to the Tribunal’s decision, Adeleke criticized the way the overvoting issue was resolved in favor of the former governor Adegboyega Oyetola, calling it “an unfair interpretation against the desire of majority voters.”
He urged his followers to maintain their composure and insisted that he was still the legitimate winner of the July 16 election.
I ask that you all maintain your composure, he continued. We will challenge the ruling, and we are confident that justice will be served. Let our folks know that we will make every effort to keep this well regarded mission.
